Abstract:
An observation station was set up in the offshore area of Yangjiang for wave field observation, and the collected measured wave data from June 2016 to May 2017 were analyzed and studied. The results show that during the annual observation period, the average and maximum wave height of 1/10 large waves are 1.18 m and 6.54 m, the average and maximum significant wave height are 0.94 m and 5.31 m, and the average period is 4.3 s. The largest wave process was caused by Typhoon Sarika. In this study area, the slight sea appeared the most frequently, and the moderate sea and rough sea occasionally presented monthly. Both the constant wave direction and the strong wave direction were ESE. Moreover, the transformations among characteristic wave heights and characteristic wave periods were obtained.
